As Associated Press reported on 30 July 2019, four Muslim ministers have returned to the cabinet after walking out a few weeks earlier.Thomas Muller, persecution analyst at World Watch Research, explains: "The ministers had been accused of having ties with (or of even supporting) the Islamic radicals who carried out the suicide attacks against churches in April 2019. After an investigation cleared them of those allegations, they returned to office. However, this is a clear sign how poisoned the atmosphere in the country is. Minorities are seen as a threat, especially the Muslim minority, but even Christians (who were the main target of the April attacks) are seen as being a danger to the Buddhist majority. Thinktank Jamestown Foundation stated on 26 July 2019, that Islamic State entities are preying on ethnic and religious tensions and it is very possible that what we saw happening in Sri Lanka in April is only the beginning."
